It’s challenging to find good gluten-free pizza.
I’ve tried gluten-free pizzas at a few restaurants and they often taste like thin cardboard. However, some places hit the ball out of the park. I really miss great coal-fired pizzas that have a nice char on the crispy crust from the oven. Mmm. I haven’t found anything with that same texture or taste yet that’s gluten-free. But there are a few that really do enjoy.
My favorites so far:
- Mellow Mushroom. (If you have one near you, check it out!) They will make basically ANY pizza on their menu gluten-free! They have so many incredible toppings and sauces. So delicious. They also have great gluten-free beers on rotation that go wonderfully with the pizza.
- Naked Pizza. I’ve had this twice up in Maryland and I love it. It’s a really neat restaurant where you build our own pizza. If you are ever near one I highly recommend it!
- Domino’s Pizza. I only like this pizza if it’s covered in toppings – but it’s so wonderful that it can be delivered to my house! They don’t claim to be safe for Celiacs, due to risk of cross contamination, so if you are incredibly gluten-sensitive you may want to avoid their pizzas. If I’m really craving pizza I will sometimes I’ll gamble and try it. I am pretty sensitive but haven’t had any problems with their pizza yet.
This was my first dip into the store-bought gluten-free pizza pool. My mom bought two Udi’s gluten-free pizzas for us to try: Margherita and Spinach & Feta.
