About Me

Hi there! Thanks for stopping by.

My name is Lauren. Some of my favorite days are the ones I spend in the kitchen cooking up a storm of yummies to share with my friends and family. If I could, I would cook and bake all day long. But that wouldn’t pay the bills. So, I spend my days as an Account Executive at a super awesome advertising agency here in Orlando. And nights and weekends are filled with recipe exploration and kitchen trials.

I started cooking a lot when I moved out of my parents’ home and went to college, but in 2011 I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease and had to re-evaluate all of my recipes and go-to meals to accommodate my new gluten allergy. My recipes now all use fresh, gluten-free ingredients.

Most of what I like to make and eat is gluten-free (GF) by nature anyway, but for baking or breading and recipes where I use special GF ingredients, wheat-eaters can always substitute regular flour or ingredients for gluten-free ones that I choose to use!

My boyfriend is a huge help in my cooking adventures. He tastes anything I make, at least once, and gives honest feedback. And he is super creative when it comes to fun ingredients and combinations to incorporate.

Aside from cooking, I really love to travel. I actually met my boyfriend a couple of years ago on a trip in Israel and there are so many more cool places I hope to visit in the near future to explore the local culture and cuisine. I’m an avid runner, spinner and gym-goer. I’ve run in a few half marathons and am bouncing around the idea of training for a full marathon. I love both cats and dogs. I’m an only child. I studied Advertising/PR and Writing in college.

I love the beach and being outdoors. I love shopping – in fact, I find the supermarket almost as exciting as the actual mall. I love margaritas with salt. I love coffee. I LOVE cupcakes, cookies and fro yo. I love Peeps (you know those sugar-coated marshmallow treats?), especially the chocolate covered ones. And anything with glitter or sparkles. I can’t think of any more random facts right now.

This blog will hopefully be a pre-cursor to my cookbook, so I welcome any and all feedback! And maybe one day you’ll see my name on the side of a restaurant or bakeshop.

Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous day!

xoxo,
Lauren
